Rodger Schmidt is an ALOA Certified ACE instructor and Certified Fire Door Inspector. For the past 9 years, Rodger has served as a technical trainer for ASSA ABLOY in the Phoenix, AZ facility for HES, Securitron, Adams Rite, and Alarm Controls. He develops and conducts more than 200 classes for over 2,500 attendees annually including locksmiths, access control companies, building and fire code officials, etc. Training topics include ‘Codes ofFire Rated Assembles,’ ‘IBC Electronic Locking Hardware Codes,’ ‘Electric Strike Applications & lnstal lation,’ ‘Basic Low Voltage Electricity for lnstal lers,’ ‘Advanced Electronic System Wiring and Basic Troubleshooting,’ ‘Electronic Circuits, Wiring Diagrams and System Design,’ ‘Access Control Power and Distribution Design,’ and ‘Site Survey and Access Hardware Selection.’ In addition to live, instructor-led sessions, Rodger also holds online webinars on over 20 industry topics. Rodger also serves as a representative of ASSA ABLOY to Security Industry Association (SIA) as an instructor for the Security Project Manager Program.
Rodger comes from 23 years of fire, security, and access control experience to include service, sales, training, and service management for over 140 techs at Sun Devil Fire and Security, one of largest full service companies in Arizona. He planned and developed a state-of-the-art operational training center for all in-house fire services hands-on training for technicians and hosting the Arizona Fire School program for fire inspectors. Rodger developed and presented educational fire service programs to building and fire code officials across Arizona including certification offire services- CSA or NICET credentials for fire alarms, sprinklers, kitchen hoods systems, fire extinguishers and backflow preventers for all technicians.
Rodger retired with over 21 years of active duty and reserve military service with 9 years in the USAF Reserves as the Noncommissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) of Training for the Law Enforcement unit at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona.
